Kala Namak (Indian Black Salt) is a rock salt from the Himalayan region, dark pinkish-grey in chunks and turning purplish or brownish-black when ground. It has a strong sulphurous smell—almost like boiled eggs—because of its natural sulphur content. Common in Indian cooking, chutneys, chaats, and Ayurvedic remedies. It gives a tangy, smoky, slightly funky flavour.
