It’s made from the white flesh of mature coconuts.The flesh is dried and then grated finely (almost like tiny flakes or coarse powder). It has a light, dry texture but still carries the natural coconut flavor. Commonly used in baking (cakes, biscuits, cookies), desserts, confectionery, and even sprinkled over curries or porridge for extra flavor. There are usually two main textures sold, fine (tiny shreds, almost powdery) and medium/coarse (slightly bigger flakes).
